ABOUT US
ABC (Grimsby) Ltd. operates a 100,000sq ft. warehouse adjacent to Henderson Quay on Immingham Docks. A weekly service from Finland carrying timber and steel sections is handled through the shed.
The goods are then forwarded by road and rail transport adjacent to the shed. The deep-water port of Immingham enables very large steel vessels to discharge from the same quay, which are then stored in the warehouses.
COMPANY HISTORY
ABC started business in Victoria Street, Grimsby on the first of January 1971. Initially it was used to transport timber from the new roll-on roll-off ferries from Scandinavia but this work was expanded several years later to include pulp, paper and ferry trailers.

In the late seventies the company moved to Killingholme where it was
involved with open storage on Killingholme Airfields and consequently bought 30,000 sq. ft. of warehousing.

This involved the storage of high grade pine from Finland and various bulk commodities. Since that early period it has specialised in the storage of off-site goods for oil refineries and as a result operates a constant delivery service to the refinery.

Another side of the business has been the development of the warehousing and fork lift truck operation on the Immingham docks. It is currently operating 10,000 square metres of warehousing for Carlbom Shipping on the Henderson Quay. The company operate a series of fork lift trucks ranging from 3 to 32 tonnes, the latter specialising in specialist steel levelling equipment.

The transport fleet consists of 44-tonne tractor units operating a varied selection of articulated trailers consisting of curtain-sided, well-deck trailers, skeletal container trailers, pin trailer with twist lock accessories etc.

The company has recently begun a six-wheel rigid operation to give all round flexibility.

Although ABC (Grimsby) Ltd. have always specialised in the transporting of timber along the Humber ports, they are able to transport any general cargo and collect a large range of goods for export from all ports of the UK.

The company operate from a five-acre site at Lancaster Approach, North killingholme which is 3 miles from Immingham docks and only 2 miles from the A180 motorway linking the ports with the main motorway network.
